Friday, January 24

Friday was spent driving up to Tennessee to visit the ancient mounds in Shiloh and Pinson. Started out the day at Shiloh, which is within the Shiloh Civil War Memorial. An entire village structure was once on the lands, with mounds of varying size throughout, The largest mound was right on the edge of the Tennessee River...absolutely gorgeous views. There was a feeling of regal somberness about it.

Next we went to Pinson to see some of the most unusual mounds in existence. Admittedly, most of them are overgrown with large trees, but they are still amazing to behold.

And oh yes, its was bitterly cold!!!!

and yes, somehow I had floppy '90s hair all day. Fun times.
